Inspired by riding mountains and surfing oceans, Après Coaching Sessions are a nod to the discipline and diligence necessary to master these epic environments, the freedom found in doing so, and the reward of post-excursion celebrations known as après-ski. Après Sessions, on and off the mountain, are holistic meaning an integrated whole experience.

 

Holistic health coaching considers the whole human system to spearhead what we find in the state of “flow” resulting in optimal performance and wellness in all realms of life.

We Are Our Rituals

Commonly heard:

How you do anything is how you do everything.

This phrase has been thrown around for a long time. I first heard it from a yoga teacher in Denver. Who said it first? Who knows. What matters is that it stuck. It resonated.

Do you wake up and first take a few minutes to notice how your body feels, sit and breathe and practice monitoring your thoughts before even sitting up? Or do you lean over grab your phone, check your email, social media, the news and begin the day instantly affected in some way.  Perhaps even entering your morning in a state of agitation or overwhelm?

We all ebb and flow within “how you do anything is how you do everything”, so no need to be hard on yourself if you occasionally get stuck or run off-course. Creating rituals is one way to cultivate a practice of listening, staying focused, remaining calm, and deeply connected to what really matters to you. Not anyone else, just you. 

Creating rituals and structure down to small moments throughout the day really can keep you almost completely out of overwhelm, negative thought patterns, and into the discovery of deeper truths much needed to stay the course. Sure, these truths may bring confronting information to the surface, but that is inevitably part of the process toward progression. Eventually many rituals transition into habits. Then you can add new rituals and tidbits of structure to accommodate where you are today. Where are you today? Let’s après.

From gracefully transitioning from one yoga pose to another, to navigating Los Angeles traffic like a Jedi, how you do anything is truly how you do everything. Rituals move us toward the art of attention. Pay attention. Pay attention to your breath. Is it smooth? Is it erratic? In those moments where you are somehow affected by external events, is it smooth? Is it erratic? Pay attention to the pause between the breaths.
