Après Sessions, on and off the mountain, are holistic meaning an integrated whole experience.

At Aprés Coaching, we really do believe that with health comes everything else. Not to say there are not other realms to be considered beyond nutrition and exercise. But it has been published time and time again, backed by science, that our gut is now considered our second brain. What you consume affects not only your physical body, but your mind and your emotions.

When you are eating well, you are clear-headed, potentially more aware of yourself as well as your words and actions, more productive, and simply feel good. This in turn affects yourself, your relationships, your career, your entire reality for the better.

Organic foods can be a stretch for many to understand, approach, and sometimes to make sense of financially. GO OUT to GO IN /// GO IN to GO OUT

We now know that both 'going out' and 'going in' are essential to our holistic health.

Athletes such as professional snowboarder Terje Haakonsen are at the top of their game for many reasons, but when Terje was featured in the November 2013 issue of Yoga Journal where he stated he would not be the rider he is today without YOGA, we were nothing but stoked.

Sooo… it's 2017, have your rolled out your mat yet?

Yoga and snowboarding are the very foundations of so much of what we do, both personally and professionally. We are a collective of coaches who have found deep deep resolve as well as inspiration in every day yoga and/or meditation practices plus flow-finding action sports such as snowboarding, surfing, mountain biking, climbing and related.

We go in to go out. And go out to go in. Both are necessary and both allow us to find freedom, which is everything we are all about here at Aprés.

So, yeah, we back yoga 100% as there are a host of reasons it has been around for 5,000 years. We could really geek out on it extensively and shout out for all to hear that YAY! science is finally backing it, but how about a few basic truths. Connecting deep deep breath with movement allows for an integrative experience where the mind, body, gut (now known as the second brain), immune system, lymphatic system, limbic system, heart, all organs and sensory systems are involved. You will absolutely exude a better overall status post-practice. Even if it is just a little bit – take it!  So much like riding bottomless pow… that shit-eating grin on your face at après-ski will actually shift your state – and we now know this can happen even without the ride! It has now been proven by science that the body shifts the mind more so than the mind shifts the body such as in thinking your way to a better state. So dig deep for the memory, feelings, sensations of that experience, of your favorite line from last year’s ski trip, embody it, embrace it, put that smile back on your face and put the next trip on your calendar. And in the meantime, get to yoga! We promise you will eventually find flow within your yoga practice, too.

Beyond all this going in via yoga and going out via outside action sports, both to access flow...  While we do not always have to process everything first with the thinking mind and can utilize this physical body we live in to shift states, there is often still a little residue to process and clean up where many other holistic modalities, including coaching, can assist.  We don’t claim yoga alone is a cure-all.  But it is a tremendous start as well as a gracious gift to yourself and therefore those in your circles.  Coaching is just another way to support yourself in rounding out your whole being, your whole experience, to find optimal performance in all realms from health to career to relationships, therefore creating holistic health and ultimately your own personal version of freedom.  Whether you are a pro athlete or a desk jockey, it doesn’t matter. Yoga, yoga, yoga.  #SessionIt

DIVE DEEP

 
 

We’re into diving into the depths of life because that's where the magic happens.  You can refuse to step into your truth, refuse to face your fears, and take a seemingly safe, logical and predictable path, but let’s be honest… it won’t be very much fun.  Why?  Because everywhere you go, both your fears and your unmet dreams are walking right beside you.  The unacknowledged truths of your inner world will wreak havoc on your life by attracting the same unmet desires in other people, other jobs, other places, ultimately sending you into one tailspin after another.  Do you want to lose hours, weeks, years of your life to all that?  Ultimately, the choice and the responsibility is always yours. I’m already successful. Why would I hire a coach?

 
 
 

As a rather new industry, we hear this a lot.  Business coaching does not equate to the small business advisor at the local branch offering free services.  Life coaching does not equate to therapy, which may take you in for years.  It does not equate to a nutritionist whose role is a bit different from a holistic health coach.  Not to mention that “successful” is a relative term.

Coaching holds you accountable.  Coaching finds your WHY.  Why do you want what you want?  And even when you think you know your why, it will find your next why.  Coaching takes you from where you are now to where you want to be.  And to places you have not yet even realized you want to go.  Coaching is not for the weak.  A great coach will actually say to you what no one else will dare say. 

The person affording your life may not be there tomorrow.  The person emotionally supporting you might disappear despite asking you to always have their back.  You could lose everything you have built in all realms of life in a heartbeat.  

Are you prepared?  Have you dug deep enough to know what you want if you could have anything?  Have you dug deep enough to know what you want even if you lost everything you currently have tomorrow?

From fitting into that hot dress, to traveling to far away lands, to giving your kids the upbringing you did not have...  what do you really want, and more importantly, why?

No matter how successful you are in life, happenings will always arise to knock you off your center.  When all else falls away, all you really have is you. 

Investing in yourself is saying that you are vested in you.  Exactly what it takes to stay centered, relax, keep progressing, and create more of what you already have as a “successful” person.
